Discover the vibrant fusion of tradition and contemporary craft in Sashiko with Beads. In this three-hour workshop, you’ll explore a modern interpretation of Hitomezashi sashiko, where Japanese bugle beads replace the classic running stitch to create texture, sparkle, and dimension. We’ll begin with a brief review of hitomezashi sashiko and consider how this bead-embellished variation evolves from the historic designs while honoring their geometric beauty. Using pre-marked patterns and high-quality materials, you’ll learn techniques for beaded stitching that preserve the rhythm and precision of Hitomezashi while adding a fresh, decorative twist. You will leave class with a beautifully beaded sampler and the confidence to incorporate these techniques into your own textile projects—from garments to small accessories and art pieces.
