Big Fiber Giveaway - Day 1

Local Cloth is hosting a Big Fiber Giveaway (BFG) from Friday, November 8, through Sunday, November 10 at the Folk Art Center Auditorium in Asheville. Hours will be from 10am to 3pm each day.

This special three-day, free shopping event provides an opportunity for Western North Carolina fiber artists and farmers impacted by Hurricane Helene to replace their lost supplies and tools, shopping among hundreds of fiber donations that we have received from individuals, guilds and groups across the country. 

This free shopping event is also open to anyone from our fibershed region not impacted by Hurricane Helene in exchange for a donation 

to our Fiber Artist + Farmer Resilience Fund through GoFundMe.

Directions + Driving Info

The Blue Ridge Parkway is undergoing repair around the area of the Folk Art Center. Before you head out, please take a look at the driving conditions. We've found the latest updates here.

Specific Directions:

• Plan on entering the Folk Art Center (FAC) from the back entrance on Riceville Road. The Parkway entrance may not be open all of the days of the Giveaway.
• Take Exit 7 from I-240 and get on 70 EAST. You can follow signage for the VA Hospital.
• You are headed to the Riceville Rd-70 EAST intersection.
• This is a major intersection – the VA property borders Riceville Road. There is an Ingles shopping center on the right.
• You will turn left onto Riceville Road at the light; there’s a left turn lane.
• Once you’ve made the turn, the VA will be on your right. Go past the VA property and the smaller facilities on the right. Look ahead and you’ll see the Parkway stone bridge.
• The back entrance to the FAC is on the right BEFORE the Parkway bridge. Do NOT GO UNDER THE BRIDGE! Right now, the FAC sign is down, but we will have lots of signs with cute sheep on them showing the way!
• Enter the lot and park. See you there!
