Using any pad of paper, your choice of watercolor, mixed media, print etc, you will learn how to make a beautiful cover and hand stitched book. This is a day and a half class combining two techniques that you can use for lots of future projects. On the first day you will learn how to prepare the paste paper for the covers and end sheets of our book, you will also be able to make additional papers for future projects. Paste paper is a traditional surface design technique dating back to the 16th century. Using simple tools and materials you can create endless patterns on paper. While the paper is drying we will prepare the text block for the book. On the second day we will sew our books using an exposed spine technique with paired needles to sew along the spine. This book opens up flat and is ideal for drawing, painting, mixed media or journaling.
