As part of our Summer Series we invite you to take a deep dive into the magic that is Indigo. In this series of four classes you will learn about the chemistry behind  the indigo dye pot and learn four different methods of getting color from indigo: the workhorse  chemical vat, the organic fructose vat, the fresh ice water bath and the newest product on the market IndiGold, a liquid form of indigo from the organic indigo grown in South Carolina by Stony Creek. Each class will go over the essential components and the challenges and advantages of each method.

We will also employ several techniques of the traditional resist technique called shibori on both cotton and silk. You will learn clamping and tyeing, arashi and stitched techniques. At the end of the series you will have an excellent grounding in indigo dyeing and have several options to call upon for using this amazing dye.

Members: $ 200 dollars

Non members: $240 dollars

Instructors: Joyce Tromba and Denise Arcuri

Materials fee: $25.00 for the series, which includes indigo, other reagents, silk scarves and cotton bandanas and detailed instructions and recipes.
