Calling all FIBER FARMERS of the Blue Ridge Fibershed:

If you are a fiber farmer, located within a 100 mile radius of Asheville, NC, it's time to gather! We want to put YOU on the map.

This virtual Fiber Farmer Listening Session is an opportunity to:

    * Become part of a new online map and database of fiber farmers in our region
    * Discuss what resources you need to be successful and grow your market
    * Learn about the possibility of selling fiber to Local Cloth for the Blue Ridge Blankets Project
    * Get the scoop about how you can contribute fiber samples to a sample book that will be shared with our region's fiber artists and designers, and also get your fiber samples assessed with a micron tester, in order to determine your fiber's potential for value-added goods

    This event is FREE!

How to Join the Meeting:  After you register, you will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link.

Host/ Guest Speakers:  Dana Brown of WNC Communities will speak about the AgOptions grants.  Other speakers TBA.

    What to Bring:

    • Come prepared to share about your farm: the fiber type you raise, how you are selling and processing your fiber, resources you have for scouring, shearing and skirting, what mills you are using, etc.

    • Bring your questions, needs and dreams for your fiber farm.

    • A notebook and pen to take notes.

    Fiber Sample Opportunities!

We will discuss these opportunities at the meeting.  Feel free to bring your questions.

    • We will be offering micron testing during our Fiber Fest event on April 22nd.  If you’d like to have a sample of your fiber assessed with a micron tester, please bring a washed, clean sample (no VM), with a small sample from shoulder, rib and britch for an overall reading, in a labeled zip lock bag.  $5/sample. 5 or more = $3/sample. Samples will be processed at the event on April 22nd and reports will be emailed shortly after.

    • If you’d like us to include your fiber in our regional fiber sample book, please bring 2 oz of your washed fiber in a labeled zip lock bag to the Local Cloth Studio during shop hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 11 am - 5 pm; Sunday 1 - 4 pm.  Please include your name, farm name, website, email and phone number with the sample.
