Botanical Dyeing: An Introduction to Growing and Dyeing with Plants

If you are interested in learning about getting beautiful color from plants and fungi, this class will give you the basics. We will explore different types of pigments in natural dyes, natural dye chemistry, and how to prepare your fiber to get the best results on both cellulose and protein fibers. We will set up a natural dye pot and you will each get a silk scarf to take home.

You will also learn about some easy natural dye plants to grow in your garden and what equipment and supplies you need to get started on your natural dye journey. I will have some weld and indigo seeds for you to take home if you are interested in starting your own dye garden. After taking this class you will be prepared to join the Natural Dye study groups  take a more in depth natural dye class or plan your first natural dye garden.

Mask wearing and social distancing will be observed.

Members: $50
