This is an intuitive, spontaneous way of quilting that requires no pre-planning, exacting cuts or precise ¼ inch seams and the best part is you can use up scraps of fabric, recycle old clothes or shop for fabric at second hand shops (men’s cotton shirts are great). This way of working leads to zero waste and uses up clothes and fabric scraps that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Because the fabric is sewn onto a foundation of cotton, you can also use almost any kind of fabric and you don’t need to worry about grain. (the photo is a close up of a linen and silk queen sized quilt) The log cabin is my go to design, but other designs work well: Roman Stripe, Courthouse Steps for example.  Make a quilt, tote bag, table runner, project bag….once you have the technique you can apply it to many  projects.
