Natural Dye Workshop with Michel Garcia | HandEye

The Natural Dye  Study Group is back. We are so excited to be able to meet again in person and we are starting off with three fabulous Indigo  topics. In June we will explore a clay paste resist that will be used in combination with an indigo vat. This results in a blue and white textile known as "blue calico". ( photo from http://handeyemagazine.com/content/natural-dye-workshop-michel-garcia).

In July and August we will be using fresh indigo, check the listings for the details.

If you haven't joined the us for the study group we pick one topic each month which is led by one of the natural dyer's in our group. This is not a class and does assume a basic familiarity with natural dyeing. We do recommend that you have taken a class or done some independent research so you can have a satisfying experience.

What to BringParticipants can review recipe 32 in Catherine Ellis’s book, as well as the description on page 95 in  The Art and Science of Natural Dyes. Bring washed cellulose fiber to make samples. Stencils, stamps silkscreen and /or stiff paint brush will be used to make the resist pattern.

Hosted by Denise Acuri

Social distancing and mask wearing will be observed.
