Wet felting is still magic to me – you lay down wool fibers and with soap, water and controlled agitation a strong, gorgeous fabric emerges.  Successful felting is the result of good fibers, good technique, and knowing how to achieve the results you are looking for.  And like any other technique, the more you repeat the steps the more familiar it becomes.  In class you will make a number of samples to understand shrinkage, how to lay out fibers, the amount of water and soap to use, type of agitation and how much agitation is needed, and finishing. As a class we will make three samples: wet felt with merino, nuno felt, and sample with a prefelt layer.  In the afternoon you can choose one of the above techniques and make a scarf.
