LOCAL CLOTH MEMBERSHIP FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+ I’m not a professional textile artist or farmer. Is Local Cloth the organization for me?
Yes! We have members at all levels of expertise and some are just supporters. Many are enthusiastic about fiber and interested in learning a new skill or just honing an old one.

+ I live outside of the 100-mile radius of the Local Cloth Fibershed. Is that ok?
Sure! We encourage anyone interested to join. Many of our workshops are scheduled in advance so keep an eye on the calendar if you’re coming to Asheville.

+ What happens once I become a member?
You will receive early notices about workshops at a discounted rate, are invited to all Local Cloth events, including our Annual Meeting, and are eligible to teach workshops and apply to be a Local Cloth Retail Shop Vendor. In addition, you receive access to Local Cloth's Member Resources, including the Directory and Bulletin Board. Most of all, you will be joining a supportive community of fiber artists and farmers. To find out how to get involved, visit our Volunteer page.

+ Why are there so many membership levels?
We want to make sure that there is a level for all fiber enthusiasts. If you are a student and are on a limited budget, we have a great Basic Membership at a lower rate that will give you access to discounted workshops as well as a supportive fiber community.

+ I am a professional fiber artist and want to promote my work. How does the Professional Member Add-On benefit me?

The Professional Membership Add-on provides additional exposure for your business through our website, social media and newsletter. You will be able to create a profile that will be listed on our Professional Member page. In addition, you will be featured once per year for every year you have the Professional Member Add-On on our social media and in our newsletter. In 2023, Local Cloth's social media accounts reached over 175,000 users on Facebook and 121,000 users on Instagram. In addition, our newsletter reaches over 2,000 subscribers, providing a great way to share your latest work and highlight events.
