LOCAL CLOTH MEMBERSHIP FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+ I’m not a professional textile artist or farmer. Is Local Cloth the organization for me?
Yes! We have smembers at all levels of expertise and some are just supporters. Many are enthusiastic about fiber and interested in learning a new skill or just honing an old one. Check out our basic memberships, which provide a discount on workshop tuition and access to our interest groups.

+ I live outside of the 100-mile radius of the Local Cloth Fibershed. Is that ok?
Sure! We encourage anyone interested to join. Many of our workshops are scheduled in advance so keep an eye on the calendar if you’re coming to Asheville.

+ What happens once I become a member?
You will receive a welcome email inviting you to setup your profile in our Membership Platform (Wild Apricot). You'll also receive early notices about workshops and invitations Local Cloth events, including our Annual Meeting. In addition, you will receive access to Local Cloth's Member Resources, including the Directory and Bulletin Board. Most of all, you will be joining a supportive community of fiber artists and farmers. To find out how to get involved, visit our Volunteer page.

+ What is the difference between the membership levels?
If you are a student and are on a limited budget, we have a great Basic Membership at a lower rate that will give you access to discounted workshops as well as a supportive fiber community. For folks mainly interested in taking workshops and joining interest groups, our Basic Membership allows you access to the World of Local Cloth at the reasonable rate of $35 per year. For professional individuals looking to teach or sell items at Local Cloth, our Professional Membership enables you to do both, expanding your network and reach. We also set up a special profile for you on our Professional Member page and promote you on our social media. Last year, Local Cloth's social media accounts reached over 175,000 users on Facebook and 150,000 users on Instagram. In addition, our newsletter reaches over 2,500 subscribers, providing a great way to share your latest work and highlight events.
