I took advantage of Local Cloth’s artist in residence program this spring by signing up for 12 hours with Karen Donde.  My initial intent was to learn how to weave double cloth.  I learned so much more!  Karen took time before our first meeting to put together a folder with tips and techniques plus resources that she had researched for my work.  She had a clear plan for how we would use our time.  Not only did I learn 9 different ways to manage the fold but I learned new techniques for winding bobbins, lashing on to the loom, and re-threading / sleying while in the midst of sampling.  We discussed weaving software, color choices and thread idiosyncrasies. Karen was also willing to help me maximize my weaving time by washing and ironing several samples.  She is a very patient and hands on teacher.  I would highly recommend this new offering by Local Cloth.  There is nothing like one-on-one instruction and guidance for improving one’s skills and abilities.  Thank you Karen!
