This class is part of our Learn a New Skill in the New Year. This class will teach you simple paper making that you can do at home using an ordinary kitchen blender, frames, colored paper and junkmail. You’ll learn how to create paper pulp, make recycled paper, how to add inclusions like flowers, seeds and thread into your paper, how to laminate colors and shapes on your paper, and ways to dry your paper. The paper you make can be used for a variety of art and craft processes such as books, notecards and collage.
Students should bring: a rectangular plastic tub (the grey ones used for bussing tables are ideal), an old sheet we can tear up (for layering between your wet sheets of paper), odds and ends of colored paper, tissue paper and junk mail, any flower petals or seeds you have around the house, a favorite cookie cutter or two for laminating shapes.
