Fiber is a precious, finite resource that should be used conservatively. We know that over 10 millions tons of clothing are thrown out in the United States each year and these textiles sit in landfills releasing toxic chemicals into the air. To highlight practices that conserve this resource we are launching September Sustainability month. We will offer classes, meetups and events that offer ways to recycle and reuse your textiles. Scroll down to see all of the events.

If you are in the Local Cloth Studio, starting September 1, there is a blue bin designated for recyclables. We need everyone's help in separating recyclables from garbage. In the studio kitchen, the black bin is for "TRASH," meaning garbage--food waste, etc. The blue bin is for  "RECYCLING"; rinsed bottles, aluminum cans, plastic containers that have triangles, clean paper and cardboard.

Anyone who would like to help with this effort should contact Joann@localcloth.org.
