Experience the bliss of working with two colors at once (one in each hand) to create deceptively intricate-looking patterns. Skills taught include reading (and writing your own!) charts for stranded knitting; working corrugated ribbing for the mitten cuff; how to create thumb gussets; decreasing in pattern; and how to incorporate letters and numbers into your designs. Stranded knitting techniques from a variety of cultures, like Fair Isle, Swedish Bohus, and indigenous Russian designs will be discussed. Prerequisite skills: students should have experience knitting in the round (either on DPNs or magic loop method).
